Court Street Methodist Church

12. Court Street Methodist Church, (pictured circa 1900), was started by a group of 56 members that decided in 1849 that Centenary was overcrowded. The church’s meeting minutes stated “they went up the hill to worship the devil” because they wanted an organ in the church. Their church was dedicated in 1850. A new building was erected in 1901.
