Lynchburg Museum System
Lynchburg Museum News. The Lynchburg Museum at the Old Courthouse celebrated the completion of the Clock and Bell Project, starting the restored mechanism on December 5, 2009, as the Downtown Christmas Parade kicked off. The clock and bell have been keeping time and ringing the hours ever since. We are still in the process of turning the historic clock into a working exhibit—plans are underway to be operational and on view by June 2010.
Many more (2,000 +) historic photographs of Lynchburg people and places were added to our digital website recently. They can be viewed and purchased at www.lynchburgmuseum.org by clicking into “photos.”
The Museum began participating in First Fridays in 2009.This year we are featuring a particular topic for each one. In March, for example, Curator Greg Krueger presented special aviation artifacts that are not on display in our galleries.
Museum First Fridays. The Lynchburg Museum at the Old Courthouse will be open free 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on First Fridays and is on the trolley loop. This year, each event will feature a new topic. A staff member will be on hand to talk with visitors and show artifacts that are not usually on exhibit.
